The Opportunity

Greiner Bio-One is seeking an outstanding Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Management Team and help shape the next phase of profitable and sustainable growth.

As a key strategic business partner to the CEO, the CFO is responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the division while driving value creation, business performance, governance excellence, and organizational transformation. The role combines strategic leadership with operational rigor and requires a highly experienced executive who can effectively balance growth, profitability, risk management, and long-term value creation in a global business environment.

 

The CFO serves as the financial steward of the division and plays a critical role in enabling transparent decision-making, strengthening financial resilience, and developing a world-class finance organization aligned with Greiner Group standards and governance principles.

 

Note: As this role relies on close, in-person collaboration, the preferred work location for this position is Kremsmünster.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner to the CEO, Executive Management Team, and Supervisory Board.
  • Drive the financial strategy of the division in alignment with the company's strategic ambitions and growth objectives.
  • Provide fact-based insights, forward-looking analyses, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Challenge business assumptions and investment decisions through rigorous financial evaluation and business acumen.
  • Anticipate market developments, business risks, and opportunities, translating them into actionable financial and strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance across the organization.

 

Financial Stewardship & Governance

  • Lead all Finance, Controlling, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Compliance, and Governance activities within the division.
  • Ensure financial integrity, transparency, and compliance with all applicable accounting, tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance review processes.
  • Safeguard liquidity, working capital performance, and capital efficiency.
  • Ensure robust risk management and internal control systems across the global organization.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and reliable financial and operational performance reporting.

 

Performance Management & Value Creation

  • Establish and continuously enhance a best-in-class performance management framework.
  • Drive sustainable value creation through disciplined financial steering and KPI-based management.
  • Increase transparency across business units, functions, and manufacturing sites.
  • Identify, quantify, and track business opportunities, operational improvements, and financial risks.
  • Support commercial and operational leaders in improving profitability, productivity, and return on investment.
  • Lead capital allocation and investment management processes to ensure optimal use of resources.

 

Finance Excellence & Transformation

  • Drive finance process excellence, harmonization, and standardization across the global organization.
  • Partner closely with Shared Service Centers, Finance Hubs, and Group Finance functions to continuously improve the finance operating model.
  • Champion digitalization, analytics, ERP optimization, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives that strengthen efficiency, scalability, and business impact.
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement throughout the global finance community.

Leadership and Organizational Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a global finance and controlling organization.
  • Create a high-performance culture characterized by accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Build strong finance business partnering capabilities across all organizational levels.
  • Develop successors and future finance leaders through coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
  • Strengthen organizational capabilities and align leadership behaviors with Greiner's values and leadership principles.
  • Foster collaboration across functions, regions, and cultures in a global matrix environment.
  • Serve as a key member of the Divisional Executive Management Team.

  • Represent the division towards Greiner AG leadership, supervisory bodies, auditors, financial institutions, and external stakeholders.

 

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an accomplished and visionary finance executive who combines strategic foresight with operational excellence and strong leadership capabilities.

The successful candidate is a highly proactive, results-driven, and commercially minded leader with a proven ability to create value in complex international organizations. They possess strong executive presence, thrive in dynamic environments, and are able to influence decisions at the highest levels of the organization.

They demonstrate sound judgment, resilience, and a strong sense of ownership while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and transparency.

 

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record as CFO or senior finance executive (minimum 7 years) with joint P&L and balance sheet responsibility within an international industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences or comparable global business environment (with a revenue of at least a couple of hundred million). 
  • Deep expertise in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Treasury, and Performance Management.
  • Demonstrated success in driving profitable growth, operational excellence, and sustainable value creation.
  • Strong experience managing capital investments, resource allocation, and financial steering of international multi-site organizations.
  • Proven experience leading finance transformation, operating model optimization, shared services, and process excellence initiatives.
  • Experience within international matrix organizations and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong understanding of digital finance solutions, ERP environments, analytics, and AI-enabled business processes.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Candidates with strong German language skills will be preferred.

Your impact pays off! In accordance with legal requirements in Austria, we are obliged to disclose the minimum annual gross salary for this position as defined by the collective agreement, which is € 141,787.66 (Chemical Industry Collective Agreement). We are, of course, willing to offer a market-aligned overpayment depending on your individual qualifications and professional experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, you can expect a bonus scheme and further social and financial benefits.
