Job Overview:
Greiner Packaging is seeking an Electrical Technician to join our team in Pittston, Pennsylvania.
As a Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and electrical equipment. This will include installing new equipment, performing regular services and preventative maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
You will have the opportunity to become an expert in operating and maintaining a variety of plastic processing machinery.
Process Optimization:
- Troubleshoot and repair machine electrical and electronic related problems.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications for troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locate sources of problems by observing machinery in operation.
- Check and monitor equipment condition and perform corresponding actions or plans to prevent equipment breakdown.
- Reduce Meant Time to Repair and increase Mean Time Between Failures.
- Electrical installation, testing, repair and electrical systems for a variety of purposes.
- Responsible for electrical equipment and work with switchboards, electrical panels, and plant power distribution.
- Maintains electrical equipment and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Provides electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Complete a shift turnover daily using a computer.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related company goals through the support of production.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Technical Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
- Understanding of Electrical control systems and ability to fault find electrical issues
- Support departments in system and equipment troubleshooting and in technology transfer
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Be a champion of Continuous Improvement Activities
- Must have basic computer and report writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment
- Good time-management skills
- Responsible for Food Safety within scope of work, including adherence to site Hygiene Code of Practice and SQF / FDA regulatory requirements, and reporting of food safety concerns / improvement suggestions
- All other duties as assigned
Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in a Maintenance or high-level machine operator role within a manufacturing setting is required
- Experience with Extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding, high speed printing, and assembly machines strongly preferred but not required. Electrical Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of Pennsylvania Electrical Code and the ability to apply standards to all installations, repairs, and inspections.
- PLC & Automation Expertise: Capable of troubleshooting PLC systems—preferably Beckhoff and Siemens—to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- HMI Programming: Ability to program, configure, and modify Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for production equipment as required.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide electrical training and coaching to maintenance technicians, production staff, and other team members to build in-house technical capabilities.
- Mechanical experience : Be able to support Maintenance techs with mechanical tasks if necessary .

- Work in/around high speed equipment daily
- Standing, lifting, bending, reaching on a consistent basis
- Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday availability with the ability to work on-call as needed for emergency or after-hours support.
