Greiner Packaging is seeking an Machine Process (Technician) to join our team in Pittston, Pennsylvania. This position is essential to maintaining smooth production operations at our manufacturing plant.

Job Description: This position provides technical capability within the Decoration Department, with regards process optimization, product specifications and technical decision making. The decorations department is responsible for the production of the end product, from plain to decorated product with cardboard wrapping

In this position, you will learn specific Decoration process, equipment (specifically Hoerauf machinery), machine speeds, changeover times, product specifications and customer quality requirements.

You will load and changeover machinery, and keep machines running smoothly; communicating any problems that arise to supervisors in a timely manner.

You will have the opportunity to become an expert in operating and maintaining machinery. You will feel confident jumping in to make adjustments or changes as necessary to maintain production at the highest level, with the support of your Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance teammates.

Process Optimization

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures, set up new operating procedures as required for future department development
  • Ensure all Food Safety / Hygiene / GMP requirements are adhered to at all time to ensure high levels of product safety and quality.
  • Technical set up of machines to run at optimum speed, as per GPC benchmarks, including machine speed increases if required.
  • Complete product changeovers as per production schedule and in accordance with established procedures and timeframes
  • Provide support to ensure machine efficiency targets are achieved (trouble-shooting)
  • Assist with management of machine downtime, including breakdown & maintenance
  • Prepare and check changeover trolleys
  • Minimize waste & scrap and record relevant data

Technical Expertise

  • Detect, root cause and resolve non-conforming source efficiently and effectively, using the continuous improvement approach to problem solving
  • Carry out maintenance tasks
  • Provide assistance and/or technical support to maintenance engineers
  • Provide electrical, controls and automation support to plant process, packaging and machine operations
  • Support department in system and equipment troubleshooting and in technology transfer
  • Motivated to achieve department and company performance targets
  • Be a champion of Continuous Improvement Activity in the Decorations department
  • Product change overs
  • Quality Checks
  • Qualified operator
  • Owner of department tool inventory
  • Provide break coverage when necessary
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements:

Experience

3-5 years’ experience in a Maintenance or high-level machine operator role

Experience with Hoerauf Machines strongly preferred but not required
